Our Brimfield Blowout Multi-Estate Auction features over 300 lots of fine art, antiques, Mid-Century Modern design, Americana, decorative arts, and collectibles gathered from across New England and beyond. The sale brings together material collected from New Hampshire to Maryland through a variety of consignments, museums, nonprofit organizations, estates, and private collections.
Timed to coincide with the July Brimfield antiques season, select purchases will be available for pickup at our Brimfield booth at Quaker Acres, providing collectors and dealers an opportunity to acquire exceptional pieces while attending one of the country’s premier antique events.
The auction offers a wide range of collecting categories, with standout examples spanning more than two centuries of craftsmanship and design. Mid-Century Modern highlights include a Charles and Ray Eames dining suite for Herman Miller with original 1955 catalog, an Ib Kofod-Larsen for Moreddi rosewood bedroom set, Ole Wanscher seating, Heywood-Wakefield bedroom furniture, Maurice Burke seating, Cartwright teak furniture, Adrian Pearsall-style designs, and an impressive selection of period lighting, electronics, and accessories.
Fine art is a major focus of the sale, featuring important works from European, American, and maritime traditions. Leading highlights include Antoine Bouvard Sr. (French, 1870–1955), Venetian Canal With San Giorgio Maggiore in Distance, an atmospheric Venetian scene by a highly collected artist whose works regularly attract significant interest from collectors. Additional offerings include works by William James Webbe, Edwin Hayes, Cornelis Christiaan Dommelshuizen, Andrew Black R.S.W., Ernest Walbourn, Esther Miller Von Kramer, Morris Katz, Allan Ramsay, Jean Messagier, and others, alongside a strong selection of marine paintings and landscapes.
Americana collectors will find an exceptional selection of early furniture, folk art, stoneware, and historical material. Highlights include a New England red-painted blanket chest, Maine stenciled dressing table, decorated Hartford stoneware by Orson H. Seymour and Seymour & Bosworth, nineteenth-century Baltimore stoneware, patriotic postcards dating from the early twentieth century, Robert Holland folk art, and important regional ephemera.
The auction also features a diverse selection of international art and decorative arts. Asian highlights include Utagawa Hiroshige’s “Cherry-Blossom Viewing at Goten-Yama” (1842), an exceptional nineteenth-century Japanese woodblock print, along with Chinese Export famille rose porcelain and other Asian decorative works. African art is represented by a striking Kota Mahongwe reliquary guardian figure, reflecting the craftsmanship and cultural significance of Central African sculpture.
Collectors of design, glass, and decorative objects will discover a wide variety of unique offerings, including 1930s uranium glass from Anchor Hocking, Liberty Works, and other manufacturers, Royal Brierley crystal, Steuben glass, Webb Thomas crystal, Art Deco lighting, vintage watches including a Gallet Multichron “Jim Clark” chronograph, musical instruments, scientific instruments, books, and vintage audio equipment.
