Ann was born in Northborough MA on August 21st 1820 to Sylvester Newton and Sally Dalrymple. She created this elaborate sampler at the age of only eleven years old. She would go on to marry Cyrus Snow Abbott seven years later, having four sons and moving to Iowa during the Yankee Exodus. She passed away in 1883 at the age of 62.
